Elisa Piazzi (she/her) is an artist and graphic designer based in The Hague. Her work is grounded in meticulous preliminary research that brings together theory, workshops, and public discussions. Her work is materialised through self-publishing, drawing, and space making. Elisa sees herself as an “artist as a critical body,” using her art to question the world and society around her.
Education plays a key role in her work, especially through experimental and self-organized approaches. Elisa values sharing knowledge in an open and accessible way, rather than through exclusive or one-sided systems. Many of her projects focus on creating conversations, addressing social issues, and building solidarity by learning and creating together.
Elisa is especially interested in working with legal documents, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that often make people feel confused or mistrustful. Starting from this sense of uncertainty, she creates spaces where people can discuss these topics in simple and playful ways. In these spaces, there is no right or wrong, and mistrust can be turned into shared understanding and hope.
Alongside her art practice, Elisa works as a graphic designer, focusing on editorial design. She collaborates mainly with cultural clients, with recent projects including work for Onomatopee and Dutch Design Week. She also occasionally teaches and mentors students in editorial design and recently completed a course in bookbinding.
