Bram Ieven

Theorist

Bram Ieven is a cultural theorist and philosopher. His research and writing centers on Dutch and European modernist art and politics, and on contemporary culture and globalization.

In 2015 he co-edited Interrupting the City: Artistic Constitutions of the Public Sphere (Valiz, Amsterdam). Currently he is working on a book on De Stijl and the modernist understanding of art and commonality. With Eliza Steinbock and Marijke van der Valck he is preparing an edited collection on Aesthetic Resilience: Art and Activism in the Age of Systemic Crisis.
