IST Exhibition Research Lab: Inter-
Exhibition Inter- examines the profound connections between artworks, where meaning is not confined to individual pieces but emerges in the relationships between them. Exhibition Inter- is part of the Exhibition Research Lab, an elective KABK course.
Rooted in the concept of "inter-," it foregrounds the spaces between, the overlaps, and the hidden threads that bind the works into a web of mutual influence. Each piece interacts with its neighbours, forming a network of associations that resists linear interpretation. Inspired by rhizomatic thinking, the exhibition emphasizes multiplicity and non-hierarchical links, where no single work dominates, but all contribute to an evolving dialogue. These interconnections reveal a "third meaning," a layer of understanding that exists only in the relational context. This is an exhibition about art as a network, alive with potential in the correlation between them.

Exhibition Research Lab
Exhibition Research Lab offers students practical, material and theoretical knowledge of exhibition-making - an important, fluid and often overlooked or simply implied aspect in art and design practices. We become acquainted with attitudes, frameworks, techniques, themes, vocabulary and agencies relevant for contemporary exhibitions. We dig deeper into important roles such as maker, curator, and public. The course is available to students from all KABK departments and Leiden University students. Exhibition Research Lab is part of the Art Research programme of the research lectorate Art Theory & Practice (KTP).
