Documentary film

A short film about ideological radicalisation in Brazil, portrayed through the relationship between a conservative, religious rightwing father and his daughter, the filmmaker. How do conspiracy theories and religious discourse intertwine, in order to shape the public debate in a country of continental scale in the Global South?

The different phases of this radicalisation process arise within the interaction between subject and filmmaker, father and daughter. Using a first-person narrative, the film explores how both father and daughter can embrace complexity in order to understand the danger of simple narratives in a post-truth era.

Through interviews and screen-based footage from social media –the same tools that radicalised the leading character – the film visualises potential causes and consequences of group-induced radicalisation.
