Maarten Heijkamp is a visual artist working on the intersection of ceramics and photography, often within the realm of architecture. He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. In 2011 He was a resident at the European Ceramic Workcentre before establishing his own ceramics studio on Hembrug Zaandam. In order to translate visual into tactile, he developed the ‘Photographic Hammer’, an innovative process to make large format ceramic reliefs using a camera obscura. His work ranges from small sculptural reliefs to architectural facades.
