Lea Novi (she/her) is an artist primarily working with the photographic medium, which she combines with audio, text, and video. Her work revolves around how complex questions of climate change can be communicated through visual storytelling. In her practice, she seeks ways to encourage more empathetic relationships with our ecological surroundings. Ecology and extinction, ecological interdependence and interconnectivity, and the human impact on the environment are recurring themes in her artistic work. Intimately connected to this, she is deeply interested in the psychological and emotional effects of climate change, both on a personal and artistic level.
Lea Novi received her BA in Fotodesign from the University of Applied Sciences Munich, holds an MA in Lens Based Media Design from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, and an MA in Photography and Society from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague.
