Judith van IJken

Docent & Stagecoördinator (BA Fotografie)

Judith van IJkens’ practice as photographer and artistic researcher engages with questions of social identity. The photographic portrait and its construction play a central role in both her practice as her research.

Van IJken graduated cum laude at the Photography department of HKU, University of Arts Utrecht. She followed her education at the Rijksakademie van de Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the PhDArts programme of ACPA, Leiden University. Alongside her artistic and research practice Van IJken has been involved with art education.

At the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), Judith van IJken teaches at both the Master Photography & Society and the Bachelor Photography programmes.
