The Royal Academy of Art (KABK) is an internationally renowned institute for education in art and design. The academy has a strong focus on internationalisation, which is not only demonstrated by a high number of international students and teachers, but also by many international partnerships, various European projects for curriculum development and recognition gained through international accreditations. What will you do?
- Advising and implementing the internationalisation strategy together with the education departments and head of International Affairs, with a focus on internationalisation of the curriculum;
- Providing relevant information and guidance to departments;
- Strategic institutional partnership policy and implementation;
- Institutional cooperation: evaluation, research, advice and contact;
- Project coordination and implementation of Erasmus+ projects;
- Implementation and policy advice on international staff mobilities and professionalisation;
- Keeping the relevant webpages on the above topics and other online resources up-to-date.
Your profile
The international affairs team is small, and the internationalisation policy officer makes substantive, advisory, and process contributions to the implementation of the policy within the academy. We are therefore looking for a colleague with well-developed diplomatic qualities who can move smoothly within the academy's characteristic and very diverse organisation and furthermore:
- We are also looking for someone with experience in curriculum development and internationalisation;
- Excellent knowledge of English and Dutch is required;
- You’re able to work independently and in a team, coordinate overarching processes, and deliver assigned projects to the desired results;
- You have strong analytical skills and examine policy implementation and opportunities to strengthen it;
- An active attitude is required;
- You have experience in a similar position at a university/HBO for at least three to four years, preferably in higher arts education.
- You are aware of the latest developments in higher education, as well as of the possibilities and arrangements for international cooperation;
- You are an excellent networker who can promote the active policy with regard to internationalisation.
About us
The Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and the Royal Conservatoire (KC) together constitute the University of the Arts, The Hague (Hogeschool der Kunsten Den Haag, HdK). The HdK offers a wide range of art programmes to around 1800 students, from bachelors, masters, a double degree to PhD options in conjunction with Leiden University.
An essential element of its internationalisation strategy is the cooperation with partner institutions worldwide, both on a bilateral basis and in various international networks leading to projects and exchanges of students and staff. One other important element of internationalisation strategy at the Academy is research into internationalisation of the curriculum, working with students and teachers on intercultural awareness and competencies. Implementation of European Commission Higher Education goals and focus points in the context of the academy is one other element of the internationalisation strategy.
The appointment is, in the first instance, temporary for one year with the possibility of renewal.
Salary ranges from € 3,639.22 to € 5,699.76 gross per month (pay scale 10 in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Higher Education). Furthermore, we offer a holiday allowance of 8% and a fixed year-end bonus of 8.3%; extended paid holiday leave, part of which is to be enjoyed during school holidays; and good study and development opportunities.
