CCC

CCC is an ongoing artistic research, performative writing and workshop project, initiated by Levi van Gelder and Heleen Mineur in 2021. We research the possibilities of scores and script, comedic criticality, fanfiction and counterfactual theory-fiction writing, aiming to explore ways to lay bare ‘the contemporary’ (extending the sensibilities of camp into the post-truth era.) The project aims to create a playground for speculative co-writing and (failed) adaptation in which to reassemble and re-appropriate narratives in one’s personal media consumption. This finds its shape in the production of experimental video work, writing and publications, but also in the sharing of these developed tools in educational contexts like HKU Utrecht, MA Artistic Research at KABK The Hague and MA Design at Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam. CCC was developed during residencies at Workspace Br0ussels and BUDA Kortrijk.

Heleen Mineur

Heleen Mineur pays a cross-media homage to nuances of contemporary chaos/care. Rhythmic works knit together script, (moving) image and relics; in sonic, symbolic or tangible form. Her practice questions semantics and bitter-sweet tropes of the Now; through confabulated theories, poetic-satiric voices and neuro-spicy subtext. Being neurodivergent, she plays with fabricated layers of truthisms, attempting to extend the standards and methods of narration. Her ongoing study in process-through-translation resonates with her teaching practice (HKU i.a.), along with speculative dreaming workshops (BAK) and occasional art explorations with kids.

Levi van Gelder

In experimental video work, artistic research and pedagogic collaboration, Levi taps into the dormant spaces of critical and whimsical play nestled inside others. He sketches out a realm that ranges from provocative tropes within pop culture to history formation. Through quick-witted storytelling and critique, he creates a (hyper)reality show of distorted nonhuman characters that question authenticity and reveal layers of depth in the superficial. Levi teaches at HKU (Utrecht) and works for art space W139, Amsterdam. He has given lectures at Sandberg Institute, FH Salzburg, Bauhaus University Weimar and UDK Berlin. He performs as a drag version of Ötzi the Ice Mummy, reading their self-written fanfiction, at locations in Amsterdam like Perdu, De School and Rijksmuseum.
