Maarten Kolk

Studio tutor, Study Mentor

Maarten Kolk is Studio tutor for the 1st year students and Study Mentor for the 2nd to 4th year students both at the BA department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the KABK.

Maarten Kolk (1980) is a researcher, designer and founder of Kolk+. Maarten graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2006. After graduation, he founded studio Maarten Kolk & Guus Kusters, specialised in autonomous design. Here craftsmanship and impermanence are central. From 2022, Maarten founded his new studio Kolk+, for spatial design and exhibition design in particular with a strong focus on circular and modular design principles.

In addition to his design practice, Maarten has been active in design education since 2016. As a teacher, team leader and study mentor, he is closely connected to the KABK within the direction Interior Architecture & Furniture Design. He contributes to the development of design education and is committed to community building and safe study climate, among other things. He guides students in learning design knowledge and skills and leads collective study projects.
