Typography

Rob van den Nieuwenhuizen teaches Typography and is class coach at the Bachelor Graphic Design programme of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). He is also a visiting graphic designer (professional practice) at the KABK’s Master Artistic Research .

Dutch graphic designer Rob van den Nieuwenhuizen (b. 1980, NL) studied Communication Studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, Media & Culture at the University of Amsterdam, and Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

In 2010 he founded the Amsterdam-based design studio DRAWSWORDS. An unstoppably curious designer, he has collaborated on everything from design magazines to whole graphic identities and exhibitions, and clients include major Dutch museums, artists, publishers and art schools.

Rob was a jury member of the Dutch Design Awards (2013–2017), The Best Dutch Book Designs (2012), and the Art Directors Club the Netherlands (2016).

He is visiting faculty at Otis, Los Angeles and has been a guest tutor at Pratt Institute, New York; Elisava, Barcelona; Sint Lucas, Antwerp and several Dutch art academies.
