Are you are thinking of applying for an art or design programme at the KABK? An important part of the application process is your portfolio. The portfolio requirements for admission differ per department and study level. We advise you to always first check the admission requirements of the course you wish to apply for.

Show your personality with your portfolio

There is not one formula or way to create a portfolio, but these few tips will hopefully help you. Scroll down for info about the format.

Start with the basics: your name, maybe a short bio, and your contact information. Then start selecting projects and experiments that you think will best represent who you are. Organise them. Do you want to add sound, videos or another type of digital content to your portfolio? Create an interactive presentation, allowing you adding URLs or other links to your portfolio.

Keep track of the steps you take while creating a project, this is called the process. Show how you have made the work.

You can also show try-outs, sketches, unfinished work, inspiration sources and experiments. These are just as valuable as finished work.

Explain yourself. Make sure the committee understand your thinking without you being present to tell. The context of your work is important.

Show your portfolio to someone that hasn’t seen it yet and ask them for feedback.
