International students who will be staying in The Netherlands for longer than 4 months are required to be registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) of the municipality they are living in.

When you register, you will immediately receive a citizen service number (BSN). You need this number for instance to get a job, to open a bank account, or to register with a family doctor.
In order to register, you will need an address and proof of occupancy.

For more information on this process, and to make a registration appointment, go to this website.

Make sure you read carefully what documents you need to bring to the appointment.

For students who have accommodation outside of the Hague, contact the municipality in which you reside for an appointment. You can also use the above-mentioned webpage to make an appointment.
