Project kick-off ‘Facts Not Filters’ × Master Non Linear Narrative in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited

17 september 2020

On 14 September 2020 the Master Non Linear Narrative kicked off a new collaborative research project together with Free Press Unlimited. The introduction programme included two comprehensive presentations by Boris van Westering from Free Press Unlimited and Pia Pol from independent publisher Valiz. Free Press Unlimited is a non-governmental organisation that supports journalists and media professionals with trainings, emergency support and capacity building in more than 40 countries.

In the coming semester, together with Free Press Unlimited, the students of the Master Non Linear Narrative will examine the complexities of culturally rooted and geographically specific nuances related to regional news reporting and distribution. The aim is to investigate different local case studies through the organisation’s international network and gain a better understanding of how media functions and what kind of threats press freedom is exposed to.
