Japanese sound artist Mamoru Okuno studied at City University New York, and graduated from out Master Artistic Research program in 2016. He is currently based in Tokyo.
His long-term artistic research project: A long listening journey of a possible thiStory especially of Japanese and Dutch and something more, grafts the 17th century Dutch imaginary of Japanese history onto the actual present of 21st century Japan, and creates a new, possible history. It consists of lecture performances and video works and has been exhibited widely across Japan, Indonesia, Australia and Taiwan.
Mamoru is represented by Yuka Tsuruno Gallery in Tokyo.
