Start your application

Applications open: 1 October to 2 March

You start your application in Studielink, the national registration system for Dutch university programmes.

Go to Studielink

Detailed instructions are provided on the website of Studielink to assist you with the procedure.

Please note!

Registration in Studielink only is not sufficient to be considered for admission to this programme. Make sure you also complete the next step before the deadline mentioned.

Digital submission incl. portfolio

Deadline: 2 March

After your application in Studielink is confirmed, you will receive an e-mail from the Student Administration of the Royal Academy of Art with the subject "Upload the required documents".

In this e-mail, you’ll find your personal login info, which will grant you access to the Academy’s online application system Osiris.

If you haven’t received the email with your personal login info after one day, contact us at studentadministration@kabk.nl

With your personal login info, you can access your own student account at the Academy’s online application system Osiris. Here you can upload the requested materials with the instructions and specifications as mentioned in the email you received, incl. your

  • Portfolio
  • Motivation letter
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or  Questionnaire (if requested)
  • Assignment(s) (if requested)

Your High School diploma (and/or English language test for non-EU/EER candidates only) can be submitted later on in the process, in case you do not have obtained them yet.

You receive the results by email

two weeks after the deadline

If the selection committee has assessed your application positively, you will be invited to the next phase of the admission.

Admission days/interview

Selected candidates are invited to an (online) admission interview to talk about their work.

The admission days/interviews are planned for:

  • 8 April 2026
  • 15 April  2026
  • 22 April 2026

You receive all the relevant information per email.

The admission day exists of three parts:

  • The interview:
    Make sure you bring your portfolio, samples of work, drawings, shape- and textile experiments, sketch books etc. You will have the opportunity to present your work on tables in the Textile & Fashion department. The work will be part of the interview during which we will engage with you in a discussion about fashion and textile, art, your ambitions and your experiences so far. The selection committee will consist of members of the teaching staff, the head of department, a coordinator and students.
  • A drawing exercise (no preparation needed)
  • An informal group talk to get to know each other, ask questions and interact with us and your potential new classmates. (no preparation needed)

You will be informed by email whether or not you will be admitted to our programme or placed on our waiting list.

Residence permit arrangement

for non-EU/EEA students only

All newly accepted non-EU/EEA students will receive information and instructions about the application for a residence permit (VVR) for study purposes in the framework of their registration.

For the application, students should submit all the relevant documents by uploading these to their Osiris Online Application.

We will start the procedure of your study residence permit as soon as we have received all the required documents and the payment of your tuition fee, residence permit handling fee and living fee.

    Complete your enrolment

    Deadline: 1 July

    All students who are offered a place in our programme need to upload supporting documents to complete their admission folder, unless the documents have already been verified by Studielink.

    These documents include:

    • Copy of your passport (a scanned version of pages with photo and personal information).
    • Copy of your high school diploma and grade list.
      Your high school diploma should be comparable to a Dutch VWO, HAVO or MBO 4 diploma.
      You can check the equivalent Dutch level of your diploma on the Nuffic website.

      If your diploma/transcript is NOT in Dutch, English, German, French or Spanish, please make sure to upload an official English translation of your diploma as well (in one attachment).
    • A profile picture (to print on your student card).
    • Proof of English proficiency (for non-EU/EEA students only).

    You upload these documents to your Osiris Online Application.

    Verification of documents

    Once your documents are verified, you will receive an email to go to Studielink and pay your tuition fees.

    Official enrolment

    Deadline: 17 August

    Your official enrolment at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) is completed upon payment of the tuition fees.

    Proof of enrolment

    Once your payment is processed, you will receive a proof of enrolment via email
