Kristyan Sarkis

Kristyan Sarkis (1985, Beirut, Lebanon). He holds a BA in Graphic Design and a Master of Design in Type and Media from The Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2010. He is currently an independent graphic and type designer in Amsterdam, partner at TPTQ Arabic and teaches at TypeMedia since 2015.

His typefaces include Thuraya, Greta Text Arabic (with Peter Biľak) and Colvert Arabic (typographies.fr). He has designed the Arabic typeface for the identity and wayfinding system of the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, in collaboration with Philippe Apeloig and Ateliers Jean Nouvel, delivered in 2017.

He has written articles on Arabic Typography for Typotheque with whom he repeatedly collaborates, and taught Arabic Type Design in Virginia Commonwealth University - Qatar in 2009 and Typography in the Lebanese American University in 2014. He often gives workshops about type and lettering. Among his clients: Typotheque, HW/Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Philippe Apeloig, Research Studios UK, Dalton Maag UK, M&C Saatchi UK, Interbrand Singapore, Mayúscula, typographies.fr, Medimatic. In February 2018, he published the TPTQ Arabic type specimen.
