Teacher Design Skills at the Master Industrial Design

Bas van Beek teaches the course Design Skills at the Master Industrial Design programme offered at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). He is a member of the core teaching team since 2018.

In his work Bas van Beek (born Nijmegen, 1974) criticises market mechanisms, branding, poor conceptualism and uncritical designer cults. He studies archive material, restores and adjusts designs that are often either not produced or published. He was the head of the designLAB department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His work is in the collection of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Zeeuws Museum Middelburg, Van Abbe Museum Eindhoven and Stedelijk Museum ’s-Hertogenbosch.
