Bauhaus - Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen
The curriculum at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in the Hague is in many aspects inspired by the Bauhaus. In the run-up to the exhibition The Netherlands < > Bauhaus - Pioneers of a New World at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, students of the Interior Architecture & Furniture Design department received the assignment to create an interactive, stand-alone installation and a parade in line with the subtitle of the exhibition 'pioneers of a new world'.
Students were asked to delve into the Bauhaus: in its social context, in the content of the training and in the results achieved. This should form a historical basis for a contemporary interpretation of the two components of the assignment.
Pop-up installation and parade
The
Parts of the installation will be engaged in a choreography, forming a performance parading through the streets and resembling the Bauhaus Drachenfesten. The pop-up installation will be presented at various locations in Rotterdam, including the Centrale Bibliotheek (13-25 March) and the Grafisch Lyceum (26 March-25 April).
The research and the design process for the pop-up installation and the parade will be on view in Zaal G at the museum as from 9 February. The parade will hit the streets in Rotterdam on 9 and 18 February, 2 and 4 March.
KABK students receive a 50% discount at the Boijmans upon presentation of a valid student ID card.
