INSIDE alumna Goda Verikaite receives honourable mention at Archiprix 2019

26 June 2019

On Saturday June 22 the award ceremony of the 39th edition of Archiprix took place in NEMO De Studio in Amsterdam. For this prize Dutch master's degree programs specialising in architecture, urban design and landscape architecture, annually submit their best graduation projects. For the first time this year the prize was also open for the master's programmes in interior architecture.

At this first participation KABK alumna Goda Verikaite of the Master Interior Architecture INSIDE , received an honourable mention for her graduation project Recycling Utopia: in progress.

Goda's project explores options for the future of large-scale socialist housing in Lithuania and suggests a series of speculative scenarios as to how these structures can change into an experimental playground of ideas and theories.

The Archiprix jury appreciates how the project addresses the problems of these areas from the very smallest scale to the very largest, tackling the major issues from the role of government to the residents' satisfaction with life. Goda Verikaite outlines various developments available to the basic walk-up block, depending on the nature of the residents. The project offers these a wide range of stimulating options: it presents them with a Utopia.

The exhibition showcasing all submitted projects was on view at Nemo De Studio on 23 June and a publication with the Best Dutch Graduation Projects of the 2019 edition will be available by nai010 publishers.
