PhDArts Exhibition & Public Defense Lilo Nein

You are cordially invited to the public defense by visual artist Lilo Nein of the research project entitled WRITING PERFORMANCE, to obtain the doctoral degree.

The public defense takes place in two stages. On 24 October at 11.30 Nein will publicly elucidate her artistic work for the Doctoral Examination Committee in the exhibition WRITING PERFORMANCE EXHIBITION 3, at the Gallery of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague. At 3 PM of the same day Nein will defend her dissertation in the Senate Chamber of Leiden University.

Nein investigates relations between texts and performances from the perspective of visual art. With a keen interest in the documentation and the role of texts in performance she arrives at a new understanding of performance art. Nein's argumentation resonates in her artistic work, bringing the interrelatedness of text and performance into practice.
