Marieke Zwart (1987, NL) is an artist based in Amsterdam. Her drawings, films and installations stem from a collaborative and socially informed practice. She is interested in forms of care and the act of looking.
After BA/Fine Arts at Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2009) and MA/Artistic Research at KABK (2015), she was a resident at Rijksakademie (2017-18). Zwart worked with healthcare clients and professionals during several projects in Het Vijfde Seizoen (Den Dolder, NL) and IBB (Curacao) and for Buurtzorg Nederland. Her works are part of the collection of Stadsarchief Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC and Buurtzorg Nederland and have been exhibited at: 1646 (the Hague), 3331 Arts Chiyoda centre (Tokyo, Japan), Museum Dr. Guislain (Gent, Belgium), Kunsthal (Rotterdam), Framer Framed (Amsterdam) and Amsterdam Museum. Next to- and in close relation to - her art practice, Zwart is a drawing and practice tutor at both the Royal Academy of Art and the Rietveld Academie for the last 5 years.
Zwart is currently working on a drawing project around Care in the Bijlmermeer. For the first chapter of this project an artist publication is expected at the end of 2025 in collaboration with designer Lotte Lara Schröder.
