Rob Bothof (born 1977) works as a creative coder, artist, inventor, engineer, educator and all round technical problem solver. His practice encompasses an exciting blend of artistic, technical, commercial, and non-profit projects at the intersection of art and technology.
Rob is a seasoned programmer, proficient in multiple programming languages. Through professional practice and a passion for experimentation, he has developed expertise in interactive media, with particular interests in real-time systems, procedural generation, computer graphics, and audio synthesis.
In addition to digital and media-oriented projects, Rob possesses extensive experience in embedded systems design (microcontrollers, firmware, sensors, interfacing, electronics, motion control) acquired through the hands-on development and engineering of audiovisual installations, musical instruments and special-purpose machinery.
His work has been exhibited internationally and his portfolio spans a broad range of interdisciplinary projects and explorations. Rob enjoys working with a broad network of companies, institutions, designers, artists, architects and musicians.
Next to teaching and his own practice, Rob occasionally organizes concert nights in The Hague and serves as the main organizer for RadioTonka, a local underground radiostation driven by a community of 40 volunteers with daily/nighly broadcast.
