Lonneke de Groot

Lonneke de Groot makes photographic still lifes – often composed of paper or found objects. Her images are rooted in historical visual culture, particularly painting. She questions the medium of photography and looks into the broader concept of 'the copy'. In her work, she reflects on themes such as the everyday, perception, and the transient nature of life.

De Groot graduated with a BA in Photography from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2013. Earlier, she had completed a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Photographic Studies.

She was awarded the Best of Graduates Photo Talent Award by Galerie Ron Mandos. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Foam Photography Museum and Unseen Photography Fair. It is part of collections such as Amsterdam UMC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NL), and various private collections.
