KABK x UNSEEN 2017

KABK photography students at Unseen 2017

From the 22nd until the 24th of September, the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) will be present at the Unseen photo festival. Under the title Let me tell you about, 12 third year photography students will present their work in a custom made temporary construction at Unseen festival grounds at Westergasfabriek. The presentation is a collaboration between the Photography department of the KABK and Unseen.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT…

At Unseen Amsterdam 2017, 12 third year students from KABK Photography will tell you about their world. While each photographic story is distinct, they all focus on a collective yearning to break down themes that are difficult to digest as young makers.

"As makers we are given a great power: to tell stories. At a time when news sources, reputations and rights are all under pressure, it is important to not only look within but to look around us. Where is the line between fact and fiction? Which one is the most believable? "

Supervised by KABK Photography teachers Raimond Wouda, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, the participating students are Nael Quraishi, Elodie Vreeburg, Viktor Naumovski, Katarina Juričić, Sophie Schwartz, Caspar von Eugen, Filippo Maria Ciriani, Daniela Roșca, Tibor Dieters, Avgud, Stella Loning and Linnea Frandsen.

Rob Hornstra, co-hoofd van de afdeling Fotografie:

“ Photography students embrace new possibilities and techniques and are barely influenced by traditional photographic conventions. They nurture photographic thought, although it may not necessarily lead to a photograph. What they all have in common is their deep-rooted ambition to communicate and to share.”
