Marwan Bassiouni is the winner of the SBK Sprouts Young Talent Award 2018

Photographer Marwan Bassiouni is the winner of the 2018 SBK Sprouts Young Talent Award with work form his graduation project 'New Dutch Views'. Bassiouni was chosen by the artistic team of the SBK Art Rental & Gallery and an external jury composed of Alex de Vries (writer, curator and publisher, founder Metropolis M) and Lieneke Hulshof (chief editor Mister Motley).

De foto's van Bassiouni zijn [..] een metafoor voor de samenleving waar wij ons in Nederland in bevinden. Een maatschappij die zich kenmerkt door een samenkomst van culturen. Bassiouni laat zien dat het nooit zo kan zijn dat de ene cultuur de andere van het podium stoot. Nee, wanneer culturen elkaar tegenkomen, zullen ze beide veranderen omdat ze elkaar nodig hebben..

Marwan Bassiouni graduated from the Photography department of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) in 2018 with the series 'New Dutch Views'.

SBK Sprouts Young Talents expo

The annual exhibition SBK Sprouts Young Talents showcases work by 46 young talents, among whom 34 of the best graduates of Dutch art academies. The exhibition is on view until 25 November at Loods 6 in Amsterdam. In this way SBK attempts to provide a platform to young artists and facilitate their first steps into their artistic careers by making their work accessible to a wide audience.

The exhibition SBK Sprouts Young Talents 2018 is on view until 25 November at the SBK Art Gallery with work by among others KABK alumni Quentley Barbara, Marwan Bassiouni, Marina Heuvelman, Joana Schneider and Jan Steenman.
