Walking as a Research Method Publication Launch
For the past few months the KABK Design Lectorate has been immersed in exploring the various facets of walking as a research method. This is part of a larger project aimed at surfacing research methods particular to art and design and revealing how they are used within the KABK learning community and beyond.
We made a video interview with the public space designers KCCM, an exhibition in the KABK and a launch event with IA&FD students, and most recently a publication which contains excerpts from, and reflections on, projects by KABK tutors and students in which walking played a pivotal role.
On Thursday, December 17, 18:00-20:00, we will gather on Zoom for an informal online launch for KABK Walking as a Research Method publication.
Contributors will share some thoughts about walking and/or read an excerpt from their contributions. The designers Niels Schrader and Martijn de Heer will also make a short presentation about the design of the custom typeface and the book. And we will have a discussion about what walking can offer in art and design research and pedagogy.
