Fine Art student Jessica Kuhn presents 'what is love' at Shelter

Fine Art student Jessica Kuhn has her very first solo show at a night club, Shelther in Amsterdam. The exhibition takes place from 31 July to 19 September.

what is love

…baby don't hurt me - that is the dance-pop afterthought when hearing the exhibition title what is love.

Jessica Kuhn first solo exhibition takes place at the most matching location. A nightclub itself.

Her work is known for testing, and sometimes shaking, the boundaries of the art world. But how do you shake up a space that isn't a traditional art space to begin with? Perhaps by being a traditional artist for once.

The exhibition explores popular culture references of love, Titanic, knights, dancing lions and first and foremost the tension between wanting to be saved and wanting to be strong and independent.

For Kuhn, making art is a form of love. And love requires vulnerability.

On view 31 July - 19 September, Night Gallery at Shelter.
