Booklaunch: 'The Vos Method'

On Friday 10 October 17.00h, we invite you to Grey Space in the Middle (The Hague) for the launch of The Vos Method by alum Medina Resic (BA Photography, 2017).

The book, published by Art Paper Editions, explores the teaching approach of Ellen Vos, whose mentorship and emphasis on dialogue and critical thinking shaped generations at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. Designed by Jurgen Maelfeyt and Marika Seo, it reflects the collaborative spirit of Vos’s practice.

It is mandatory to reserve a free ticket via vosmethod.eventbrite.com so we can ensure capacity.

The project was initiated by Herman Verkerk, head of the Interior Architecture and Furniture department. Medina Resic was then selected to carry out the research and, ultimately, to write The Vos Method. She graduated from the Photography department, but she has always had a strong affinity with art education and research-based practices. From the moment she began working with Ellen, the aim was to open the door for her approach to be recognised beyond the field of art. Her way of constructing assignments can be applied in any context - personal or professional, individual or collective.

About the Book

The Vos Method serves both as an archive and a guide, preserving Vos’s approach to teaching art and design. The book includes selected assignments, memorable quotes, and insights from her decades of experience. Designed by Jurgen Maelfeyt and Marika Seo, supported by a dedicated project team, it is intended as a lasting resource for students, educators, and anyone interested in the future of art education.

This publication was made possible through Voordekunst donors, Cultuurfonds, and by the KABK and specifically its Interior Architecture and Furniture Design and the Fashion & Textile departments.

Join us in celebrating this reflection on teaching and creativity.
