1:00 - 1:45pm
Presentations by Katarina Petrović (Master ArtScience, 2016) and Daniel Grumer (Master Type and Media, 2016). Moderation by Agata Jaworska, co-curator of My Practice, My Politics.
With the project Cosmologicus, Katarina Petrović translates radio emissions from Jupiter into poetry. Using custom-made software, the invisible order of electron particles coming from the distant planet is made intelligible through language.
Type designer Daniel Grumer will present Abraham, a multilingual typeface that aims to reduce hierarchy amongst Hebrew, Arabic and English scripts.
2:00 - 2:45pm
Presentations by Vera van de Seyp (Graphic Design, 2016) and Gitte Svendsen (Fine Arts, 2017). With an introduction to the graphic design department, and moderation by Niels Schrader, co-head of Graphic Design and Non-Linear Narrative.
With a critical look to the Internet of Things, graphic designer Vera van de Seyp questions when the promise of connectivity supersedes functionality.
Visual artist Gitte Svendsen collects "waste" materials from the streets, creating abstract installations that inspire viewers to combine known and unknown things.
3:00 - 3:45pm
Presentation by Klodiana Millona (Master of Interior Architecture, 2017). With moderation and an outline to the interdisciplinary approach of the department by Hans Venhuizen, head of Interior Architecture (INSIDE).
Klodiana's project The Unfinished House: What if it was great? reimagines the phenomenon of houses left “permanently under construction” in Albania. In an effort to twist the shortcomings of modernity into a positive idea of civic empowerment, the work manifests an experimental methodology that questions the concept of the city and who owns it.
4:00 - 4:45pm
Presentations by Yamuna Forzani (Textile and Fashion, 2016) and Sarah Lauwaert (Textile and Fashion, 2016). Moderation by Roosje Klap, co-head of Graphic Design and the master Non-Linear Narrative.
With hand tufted carpets, large knitted fabrics, textile designer Yamuna Forzani constructs scenes in which queer utopias can unfold.
Fashion designer Sarah Lauwaert creates garments which are designed to protect our bodies and minds from environmental catastrophes and the loss of the North Pole.
