5 KABK Alums Chosen for Signal '26 in Amsterdam
KABK Alums Annabel Schipper (Photography), Finn Koene (Photography), Jamie Smith (Photography), Minnie Fawcett-Tang (Fine Art), and Susanna Sørensen (Fine Art) have been selected for the first edition of SIGNAL ’26, a pop-up exhibition beneath Museumplein, Amsterdam.
First Edition of Signal '26
On Friday, October 16, level -2 of Q-Park Museumplein will transform into a three-hour multidisciplinary exhibition for the first edition of SIGNAL ’26. Between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, twenty recently graduated makers from various Dutch art and design academies will present their graduation work (including works from the disciplines of visual arts, fashion, textiles, jewelry, painting, digital art, graphic design, sculpture, and photography) to the creative industry and the public.
Born out of the need to bridge the gap between academia and the professional field, SIGNAL ’26 offers the new generation of makers a platform to gain visibility and supports them in the transition to professional practice.
The selection of 20 makers was made by a multidisciplinary curatorial board, consisting of, among others, Raquel van Haver (artist), Tess van Zalinge (fashion designer), Samir Bantal (director of AMO, OMA's research and design studio), Emma Waslander (curator at the Amsterdam Museum), and Merel van Helsdingen (founder and director of NXT Museum). This council selected the work based on artistic urgency and connects the makers directly with the press, curators, collectors, and potential clients during the evening.
