Zara Roelse

Educator

Zara Roelse (Delft, 1983) is an educator with extensive experience in the cultural sector and in Art Education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in New Media from the University of Amsterdam (2007) and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam (2024).

Since 2017, Zara has been an integral part of the Master Industrial Design at the KABK. She serves as the programme coordinator and, since 2019, as a study coach for the department.

In her educational practice, Zara is committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes embracing uncertainty by fostering curiosity and connection through active listening; balancing structured analysis with open-ended exploration, encouraging idea experimentation and critical engagement. Zara’s teaching approach focuses on diversifying perspectives and individual growth through collaborative learning. She believes that embracing uncertainty allows for endless growth, reinvention and exploration which forms the basis for students to further become critically engaged artists and designers.
