Parts Unknown - Master students launch online photography publication

Come join us for the launch of Parts Unknown, an online photography publication interpreting the notion of missing. The launch will be an interactive lecture in Zoom by The Royal Academy of Art Masters of Photography and Society participants who collectively created the project.

Photographers and artists from 13 different countries have developed Parts Unknown, an exploration of the notion of missing. Initiated before the pandemic times, their work has gained a new resonance during the global lockdown.

Combining topics such as isolation, grief, longing, and the need to be playful, the artists created Parts Unknown, with each artist’s interpretation of absence. The topic was prompted by Creative Court, a Hague-based organization working at the interface of art and global justice and built upon conversations with their partners, The International Commission on Missing People (ICMP) and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK).

The stories range in topic from personal history to historical and political intersections of the past and present, to the interplay of absence and presence in photography.
