The Department of Destruction, tasked with analysing and archiving the institution’s many collapses now, comes by for the final audit of the institute of West Den Haag. Part theatre, part bureaucratic séance, The Department is a meditation on endings, institutional decay, and the quiet, relentless question: what now?

Saulė Petreikytė plays a conflicted Middle Manager, while Isma Bloom takes on the role of an opportunistic Harbinger. Set within the charged architecture of the former American Embassy, it questions the fate of art spaces under administrative pressure and ‘economic progress’.

The performance will take its final form in the last edition at West Den Haag on the 7th of December. The characters have learned, evolved and adapted from all past plays. The last performance will be accompanied by the launch of the publication with final reflections of Shivani Gowda, and the response of West Den Haag to its own ending.
