Suraya Latul and Julius Dusch have experienced what it is like to study at IAFD as students. Next to that, they also teached at KABK. Suraya and Julius understand the dynamics within the department, the practical challenges and the importance of creating a safe environment for students and tutors.
After graduating, they initiated the design studio Shapeshifters and Spacebenders. They design exhibitions in which they research horizontal collaborations, with principles such as ‘prompting’, and the importance of group dynamics.
Suraya and Julius search for ways to mend the broken relationship between human and material by approaching their work with care, intentionality, a slowed pace and a decolonial lense.
