Anja Hertenberger

Somatic Design and Research

Hertenberger is an artist, researcher and teacher. In her artistic practice she working with the medium of wearable technology and e-textiles. The relationship between body, technology, and environment takes centre stage in these fields. In her work, she investigates the felt body in relation to its structured and controlled environment.

She holds a Diploma from the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg and a Master's in Interactive Media and Environments at the Frank Mohr Institute of Academie Minerva in Groningen. Hertenberger was involved in V2’s E-Textile Workspace in Rotterdam. She (co-)organized and curated events such as the Media Art Festival Friesland and the SOFT symposium at the Royal Academy of Art in 2014. She participated several times in the International Smart Textiles Summer Camp and eTextile Summer Camp. She teaches at the Fontys Academy of the Arts Tilburg (NL) and The Royal Academy of The Hague (NL). Her artistic work has been exhibited in The Netherlands and abroad.
