Pavlos Kountouriotis appointed as Deputy Director

Pavlos Kountouriotis will join the KABK as Deputy Director from 1 June 2025.

Pavlos Kountouriotis is currently the Artistic Director of the HOME OF PERFORMANCE PRACTICES and Head of the MA Performance Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts. He is well-regarded for his extensive expertise in mentoring, curating, and supervising research and education that address the intersection of artistic practice and societal challenges.

Pavlos Kountouriotis has a strong background in fostering collaborative and inclusive environments, as well as a research focus on building equitable and sustainable practices in the arts. His research explores the body in politics and ethics, informed by posthumanist, queer, and intersectional theories, supporting critical debates on the role of performance art in contemporary society. His contributions to curriculum development, international partnerships, and policy-making have been widely recognized, making him a valuable addition to the KABK community.

In his role as Deputy Director, Pavlos will work closely with the Director, staff, and students to advance the academy’s educational vision and ensure its continued relevance and excellence in the arts. He will begin his role together with the Director on 1 June.

The role of Deputy Director was carefully defined in consultation with department heads, coordinators, the Academy Council, and student representatives. Pavlos Kountouriotis was selected with broad support from the application committees.
