Clara J:son Borg (Sweden) is an artist working within the field of moving image making and performance. She completed her BA at HDK Steneby, Gothenburg University, and her MA at The Piet Zwart Institute, Willem de Kooning Academy.
Clara understands her artistic practices as a capacity existing within a performative framework—an energy that holds her artistic investigations, which consist of theoretical and academic research, as well as explorations of image making, storytelling, and non-representational movement practices. Her work materializes through filmmaking, performance compositions, and experimental writing. These notions, which she sees as having fluid relationships, are in continuous exchange and support of one another.
Her work is guided by a research trajectory revolving around ontologies of the human body, its performance strategies, political subjects, and the choreographical production of space. It is also guided by a trajectory focusing on knowledge hierarchies, knowledge production, and how consciousness plays out as an infrastructure within a boundary area where human vulnerability intersects with political, social, and natural forces—something that is based on and linked to the history of human philosophy and ideas.
