KABK graduate June Gibbs in Toasted at Quartair

KABK graduate June Gibbs (Textile and Fashion, 2025) presents her work in 'Toasted' at Quartair from 26 September to 11 October alongside works by other KABK alums Marc Claeijs (Fine Arts, 1999), Mike Rijnierse (Bachelor ArtScience, 2001) and Pietertje van Splunter (Fine Arts, 1990).

Toasted is a raw, fresh, and unlikely selection of works straight out of the bread factory. With this show we reflect on the former function of Quartair's building as a bakery, while sharing the floor with guests. Works on canvas, video, installations and performances by established as well as emerging talents will blend in a cacophonous experience.

More or Less, Graduation work by June Gibbs (Textile and Fashion, 2025)

'More or Less' explores the desire to embody the ideal woman, only to unravel into absurdity and imposed identities. It reveals the tension between modesty and eroticism, and the ‘play’ of negotiations between the ideal and the real. The collection reflects on stereotypes, beauty standards, and the psychological weight of dressing in a world where beauty dictates value; the act of getting dressed becomes a ritual of contradiction, a daily performance shaped by the longing to be seen.
