Je kunt in aanmerking komen voor een eenmalige financiële tegemoetkoming (max €2.500) uit het Profileringsfonds van de Hogeschool der Kunsten Den Haag als je door bijzondere omstandigheden studievertraging oploopt en niet in staat bent je studie af te ronden binnen de periode waarvoor je studiefinanciering of -lening ontvangt. Voorwaarde is dat je voor de betreffende opleiding in aanmerking komt of hebt kunnen komen voor studiefinanciering.

Niet-EU/EER-studenten die geen recht hebben op een studiebeurs of -lening kunnen onder bepaalde voorwaarden financiële steun krijgen in geval van uitzonderlijke omstandigheden.

De Interfaculteit School voor Jong Talent zorgt ervoor dat getalenteerde leerlingen niet van school worden gehouden omdat hun ouders het collegegeld niet kunnen betalen. Er zijn fondsen en instellingen die financiële hulp kunnen bieden om de kosten van hun opleiding te helpen dragen.

Het NL Scholarship (voorheen bekend als Holland Scholarship) is een beurs van het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap én 48 Nederlandse hogescholen en universiteiten.

De beurs is bedoeld voor eerstejaars buitenlandse studenten die afkomstig zijn uit landen buiten de Europese Economische Ruimte (EER) . Internationale studenten uit Zwitserland en Suriname kunnen ook geen aanvraag indienen voor deze beurs.

De beurs bestaat uit een eenmalig bedrag van € 5,000 voor de 1e studiejaar. Deze beurs dekt de kosten van levensonderhoud en niet van het collegegeld.

Graag zien we het volgende terug in je motivatiebrief:
- Voor welke andere financiering doe je een aanvraag?
- Hoe ga je studeren in Den Haag als je de beurs niet krijgt?
- Wat wordt jouw bijdrage aan de KABK-leergemeenschap?

Jaarlijks verstrekt het VSB-fonds zo’n 165 beurzen aan talentvolle studenten. Hiervan worden aan de HdK twee plaatsen toegewezen en een reserve-beurs. De bandbreedte bedraagt 7.000-10.000 euro. In het geval dat het gehandicapte studenten betreft worden ook alle aanvullende kosten vergoed.

Met een VSBfonds Beurs kun je na afronding van je opleiding aan een Nederlandse hogeschool of universiteit in het buitenland verder studeren of onderzoek doen.

Het CvB (College van Bestuur) heeft bepaald dat op studenten met vluchtelingenstatus het instellingscollegegeld van toepassing is op het niveau wettelijk collegegeld. De WHW (Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek) biedt deze specifieke mogelijkheid.

EU/EEA/Swiss students who are younger than 30 years old when they start studying at the KABK can apply for a regular loan and a tuition fee loan with DUO.

Regular loan

In order to be eligible for a regular loan, you will have to work in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours per month, with an official contract.

The benefit of a regular loan is that in case your parents have a low income, you might also be eligible for a supplementary grant (that you don’t have to pay back when you graduate within 10 years).

You always have to pay back the loan. The student travel product and the supplementary grant are converted into a gift if you graduate within 10 years. Otherwise, you have to repay those as well.

Tuition fee loan

For a tuition fee loan, there is no obligation of working 32 hours per month.

Students who start their higher education after 2018, have 35 years to pay back the loan(s). You do not have to repay your student debt immediately. If your student finance ends, the start-up phase starts on 1 January of the following year. This is a 2-year period in which you do not have to repay yet. The interest will continue during this phase.

The repayment phase starts after the start-up phase of 2 years. From then on, you will be required to repay monthly. How much you have to repay per month depends on the amount of your debt and the interest. DUO can take your income into account. Interest rates, established for periods of five years, are practically zero.

EU/EEA/Swiss students who are older than 30 years old when they start studying at the KABK can apply for a lifelong learning loan with DUO.

Non-EU/EEA students are expected to be able to fund their study programme by themselves. The only possible fund is the NL Scholarship, but they provide for only a very small amount of the total study and living costs for the full programme of four years.

Non-EU/EEA students could work as a freelancer or try to find a job. In case you would like to work besides the study, your employer will need to have a special Work Permit (tewerkstellingsvergunning), meaning that it might be hard to find a job. Also, due to the study load of the programmes, it turns out to be a tricky combination in practice, working, and studying at the same time.
