Vacancy: Educational Instructor Textile Workshop

The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) educates students to become independent and self-aware artists and designers with investigative mindsets and unique visual and conceptual abilities. Students at the KABK get plenty of opportunities to hone their creativity. They can work in one of the many workshops, borrow equipment and make use of the knowledge and expertise of the workshop supervisors.

The Textile Workshop consists of several spaces including specialised textile equipment. Industrial sewing, machine knitting, weaving, embroidery, laser, dying and tufting belong to the possibilities. What will you do?

Providing the students with practical guidance and instructions regarding the textile equipment. Supervision of the workshop and safe use of equipment in the workshop.

Who are we looking for?

Preferably you have recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Art. You are capable of providing the students with practical guidance and instructions. You are a responsible person with strong communication skills. We are looking for a technical-savvy person with a broad interest in cross-disciplinary techniques and materials. Working hours are Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30. Flexibility in working hours is desired, especially to replace your colleagues.

What do we offer?

The appointment is in first instance for one academic year with the possibility of one renewal. The post is classified as scale 7 in the Collective Agreement for Higher Education (CAO-HBO). Furthermore, we offer a holiday allowance of 8% and a fixed year-end bonus of 8.3%; extended paid holiday leave, part of which is to be enjoyed during school holidays; good study and development opportunities.
