You are cordially invited to join us for the presentation of the outcomes of the Exhibition Research Workshop 2017 taught by Tatjana Macic:

Is an exhibition a mere platform for presenting an artwork? Or is it an intrinsic part of the creative process? Where lies the difference and what are the implications of these different positions for the artist’s research process and artistic practice? How do various curatorial roles relate to notions of artistic autonomy? Why do artists make exhibitions anyway?

Fifteen selected students are showing new and re-contextualized work, whilst critically reflecting on this process and investigating the possibilities of an exhibition as a framework for research, experimentation and (re-)presentation. Special attention is given to the possibilities of artistic innovation based on Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of rhizome.

On Tuesday 16 May at 18.00 we open the gallery space (for one day only) to exhibit the results of the workshop. On Wednesday 17 March at 14.00 Tatjana Macic (teacher Artistic Research at the Fine Arts department and teacher Exhibition Research Workshop) and Judith Westerveld (artist and coordinator of the PhDArts doctoral programme for artist-researchers) will engage in a conversation with the participating students.
