Mounira al Solh

Artist

Mounira al Solh is a Lebanese artist based in the Netherlands. Her self-reflective and often ironic practice incorporates drawing, painting, embroidery, performance, and video installation. Feminist issues and microhistories permeate works that can be both socially engaged and escapist all at once.

Mounira participated in Documenta 14, in the Okwui Enwezor curated exhibit of the 2015 Venice Biennale, and in the Lebanese pavilion of the 2007 Biennale. She was nominated for the 2015 Abraaj Group Art Prize in Dubai, and the 2009 Dutch Volkskrant award. She exhibits widely, and is represented by Sfeir-Semler Gallery, Beirut.
