Hannes Bernard teaches Graphic Design at the Bachelor Graphic Design programme of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK).
Hannes Bernard (b. 1985, ZA) is the founder of SulSolSal – a design and research practice based in Amsterdam, Cape Town and São Paulo.
After graduating from the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, Bernard has been combining cultural, historic and economic research to create communal spaces, publications, video installations and performances. This work investigates the complex relationship between design, economics and society, while reflecting on the spectacle of global development.
In 2016 Bernard received the talent-development grant from the Creative Industries Fund NL and was an artist-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Most recently SulSolSal designed and curated the exhibition Staying Alive for the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial.
