Ellen Maria Vos was educated at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1975 to 1980, and has been a teacher at this academy since 1984. Ellen Vos participated in various group exhibitions and projects. For example, she worked with others on a collection of reed sculptures in Kortrijk (Belgium). In Rennes Vos worked on reliefs in concrete. She traveled twice to Quebec (Canada) with the sculptor Joop Beljon and the architect Herman Kossman to make sculptures in ice.
One of the highlights in her career is the many years of collaboration with Joop Beljon. With him the "City Without End" came into being. Beljon and Vos worked on this every week over a period of almost twenty years. These weekly "Jam sessions" in modeling wax eventually resulted in a bronze fantasy city. This work can be seen on the website www.joopbeljon.nl.
In addition, Vos carried out assignments for companies and private clients, such as wall paintings and a diptych for a private library. In her autonomous painting, the theme is literary, mythological. She mainly works with acrylic paint that is applied in transparent layers, creating a clear color image that gives the paintings an emotional charge and tension. She has exhibited her work in The Netherlands and abroad.
