Ana Navas is a Venezuelan - Ecuadorian artist. Combining multiple media, her work deals with processes such as translation, assimilation and appropriation. She often explores an object’s genealogy analyzing what its possible ancestors are or the new contexts in which it might reappear.
Between 2004 to 2010 she attended the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, where she was "Meisterschülerin" with Franz Ackermann. Between 2012 and 2014 she was a resident at De Ateliers Amsterdam, followed by residency programs in Brazil (2016 Vila Sul, Goethe Institut Salvador de Bahia); Bogota (2018 FLORA ars+natura through a Mondriaan Fonds grant); Mexico (2019 Charco-Granero, edition curated by Manuela Moscoso); France (2020 Fondation Fiminco), among others. In 2018 the Kunstfonds Germany awarded her with the Kalinowski Prize, and in 2020 she received the NN Group Art Award, in the Netherlands.
