Plastic Justice - Investigating the Impact of Invisible Micro-Plastics
Plastic Justice is a pan-European educational collaboration between five art and design academies in The Hague, Reykjavík, Barcelona, London and Vilnius. Together with regional environmentally engaged NGOs and scientists, the educational programme includes a conference, exhibition and website, and focusses on the long-term impact of invisible micro-plastics on the human body.
The collaboration aims to create new knowledge through cross-academic exchange and field-research promoting conscious design education for an upcoming generation.
Plastic Justice is funded by the Strategic Partnership programme of the European Union. Participating schools are: the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavík, Elisava in Barcelona, Central Saint Martins (UAL) in London and Vilnius Academy of Art together with ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts.
The project runs from September 2020 to August 2022.

Events and activities organised by the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK)
On behalf of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, selected students and teaching staff of the Master Non Linear Narrative (NLN) participate in this pan-European educational collaboration. Listed below are some of their activities organised within the context of the Plastic Justice project.

Expert Day
In April 2021 an Expert Day event was hosted online by the Non Linear Narrative with Ama van Dantzig, Donald Weber, Katarzyna Cwiertka, David Muñoz-Alcántara, Patricia Corcoran, Brooke Singer, Heather Davis.

Exhibition
During the Plastic Health Summit on 21 October 2021, students from the master Non Linear Narrative together with their peers from Reykjavík, Barcelona, London and Vilnius, presented a
Visitors of the conference at Theater Amsterdam included an international audience from NGOs, local government organisations and scientists. The event was a great opportunity for students to have elaborate discussions with professionals from the field and receive some first-hand knowledge from experts at the forefront of the fight against plastic pollution.
Exhibition at Leiden University
At the invitation of Leiden University, second year students of the master Non Linear Narrative presented their Plastic Justice research projects at the Leiden Law School. The mini exhibition was on display from 3 to 13 December 2021 at the entrance of the Kamerlingh Onnes Building in Leiden.

Plastic Justice Assembly

The Plastic Justice Assembly brings together experts from across journalism, activism, and design to present a series of research methods, tackling environmental issues and public health accountability as well as discuss contemporary approaches to integrating climate justice into education.
