Masterclass Hella Jongerius

In November 2019 the KABK Textile & Fashion department organised a Masterclass with internationally renowned Dutch industrial designer Hella Jongerius, generously supported by the Keep An Eye Foundation.

This masterclass is the first one in a series of events, where our Textile & Fashion department will be reaching out to game changers and other influential people within the industry and the international field of design.

The publication presented below, gives an impression of the Masterclass, a kaleidoscopic variety of enthusiastic attempts in design research, exploring big themes and small themes, resulting in artistic, industrial, personal, vulnerable, quirky, witty, critical but above all creative and authentic projects.

Hella Jongerius at the KABK

Within the context of the Masterclass, Jongerius delivered a lecture at the KABK, resulting in a design call & assignment for students who worked individually and under the guidance of Hella Jongerius. Selected results were presented in Museum Voorlinden during a program guided by Lucas Verweij containing the student presentations and a panel discussion with among others, Suzanne Swarts (Director Museum Voorlinden), Mark van Vorstenbos (head BA Textile and Fashion) and Maaike Roozenburg (head MA Industrial Design).
