Study profile School for Young Talent
The School for Young Talent (School voor Jong Talent, SvJT) is a unique institute established by the University of the Arts, The Hague. The school welcomes pupils in primary education (class 7 and 8 - only for dance & music) and students of secondary education, who would like to progress to the Royal Academy of Art, the Royal Conservatoire or the Conservatoire's Dance Department.
The school offers programmes at three levels of the Dutch school system (HAS, HAVO, and VWO), combined with classical dance training or preparatory education in music, or fine art and design. The SvJT is a small-scale programme in which individual attention for pupils plays a central role. The School for Young Talent was accredited as an "excellent school" by the Education Inspection of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) in 2020.
Students following the art component of the School for Young Talent take classes at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) at least four times a week. The fixed school subjects are taught at the school housed within the Royal Conservatoire building, where pupils follow the school subjects just as they are given in other Dutch schools.
