KABK to collaborate with Hague art school from Schilderswijk district

20 December 2022

From January 2023, the KABK will collaborate with Future Institute of Art (FIA), part of Art-S-Cool, the art school from The Hague's Schilderswijk district. This means that FIA's students will be able to use the KABK's workshops and they can participate in preparatory courses.

FIA is Art-S-Cool's new youth talent programme. This pre-school programme for young people aged 13 to 18 is a four-year pilot in a collaboration with Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie, Johan de Witt Scholengroep, stichting Leergeld Den Haag and Stagehuis Schilderswijk.

The after-school curriculum aims to make art education accessible to all young people with ambitions in arts and culture. In addition, FIA assists those who wish to apply for admission to a further education within art or culture.

Pupils of the FIA attend a riso printing workshop at the KABK.

The clubhouse classroom at Art-S-Cool hosts 2D and 3D art classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition to art classes, there are workshops and they visit museums. There have been classes in fashion design, manga drawing, riso printing and screen printing in the past year. Pupils have a say in the curriculum so that the activities are in line with the young people's world.

All classes are taught by artists and other professionals, including students or graduates of the KABK.
